Business Use case
Warren Mason is a System Administrator at Gurukul on Cloud (GoC). At GoC, multiple business units are using Salesforce to manage their lead processes. To maintain a streamlined and efficient configuration, GoC has opted to use a single Lightning record page across all business units.
However, each business unit has different needs and focuses at various stages of the sales process. For example, the Corporate Sales team needs to emphasize different fields when a lead is in the “New” stage compared to when it is in the “Contacted” stage. On the other hand, the SMB Sales team has its own set of key fields that should be highlighted based on their specific sales cycle.
Both the Corporate Sales team and the SMB Sales team have agreed on the following fields to be displayed based on the lead status:
- Lead Status: New – Not Contacted
- Fields to Display:
- Lead Source
- Industry
- Lead Owner
- Phone
- Mobile
- Fields to Display:
- Lead Status: Working – Contacted
- Fields to Display:
- Lead Source
- Industry
- Phone
- Mobile
- Annual Revenue
- Product Interest

What Is a Highlights Panel?
A Highlights Panel in Salesforce is a section on a record page in Lightning Experience that prominently displays key information at the top of the page. It is designed to give users quick access to the most important fields and actions related to a record without having to scroll through the entire page. Benefits of using highlights panel are:Â
- Customizable: You can choose which fields are displayed in the Highlights Panel, allowing you to prioritize the most relevant information for your users.
- Dynamic Actions: The panel can include actions like “Edit,” “Delete,” or custom actions that are most frequently used by your team, making it easier to perform tasks directly from the panel.
- Improved User Experience: By surfacing critical data at the top of the page, the Highlights Panel helps users make quicker decisions and reduces the time spent navigating the record.
What Is a Dynamic Highlights Panel?
A Dynamic Highlights Panel in Salesforce is an enhanced version of the standard Highlights Panel that allows you to configure and display your most important fields directly within the Lightning App Builder, providing greater flexibility and customization.
- Flexible Configuration: Unlike the traditional Highlights Panel, where fields were configured using compact layouts in Setup, the Dynamic Highlights Panel allows you to select and arrange up to 12 fields directly within the Lightning App Builder. This enables you to tailor the panel to meet specific business needs without needing to navigate through the Setup menu.
- Dynamic Field Display: The Dynamic Highlights Panel can adjust which fields are displayed based on specific criteria, such as record type, user profile, or the stage of a sales process. This means users see only the most relevant information, improving efficiency and focus.
- Enhanced User Experience: By allowing fields to be dynamically displayed based on context, the Dynamic Highlights Panel ensures that users have quick access to the information that matters most at any given time, leading to a more streamlined and intuitive interface.
Automation Champion Approach (I-do):
After the Winter’25 release, we can use the new Dynamic Highlights Panel to configure your most important fields right in the Lightning App Builder.Â
Follow these steps to configure the Dynamic Highlights Panel for above business use case:
- Navigate to Setup | Object Manager | Lead | Lightning Record Pages and Edit the right page.
- Drag the Dynamic Highlights Panel component onto the Lightning App Builder.

- The Primary Field value is preselected for you, but you can change it. We will leave it unchanged.
- The next step is to add fields to the Dynamic Highlights Panel. We will add the following fields in the order listed below.
- The next step is to add a condition to display the Lead Owner field when the Stage is New – Not Contacted.
- Once done, save the changes and activate the page if needed.
Proof of Concept
- From now on, if the lead status is New – Not Contacted, the Highlights Panel will display the following fields, as shown in the screenshot below.

- Similarly, if the lead status is Working – Contacted, the Highlights Panel will display the following fields, as shown in the screenshot below.

Things to Remember
- The Dynamic Highlights Panel does not support the Follow and Unfollow buttons.
- Currently, there is no option to display the Dynamic Highlights Panel in a collapsed state.
- The Dynamic Highlights Panel functions as a container for fields, similar to a Field Section. You can locate it under the Fields tab in the Lightning App Builder.
